Sekou Sylla claims Dominican Rep. LNB Hoops Agents weekly honour

Guinean-American Sekou Sylla (195-F-2000) had an amazing evening in the last round for Reales de La Vega and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 25-year old forward had a double-double of 33 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat Heroes (#7, 3-4) 110-96. Reales is placed at 3rd position in Dominican Rep. LNB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Reales will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. In the team's last game Sylla had a remarkable 76.5% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Reales, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Towson University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Sylla is in league's top in points (9th best: 16.9ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 9.7rpg) and averages solid 66.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young forward Andersson Mejia (201-F-2000) of Marineros de Puerto Plata. Mejia impressed basketball fans with a triple-double of 18 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists. Bad luck as Marineros was edged by slightly higher-ranked Titanes (3-4) 96-94. This loss caused Marineros to drop to 6th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-4 record. Mejia is one of the most experienced players at Marineros and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was American Romeao Ferguson (196-G-1997) of Titanes del Distrito Nacional (#5). Ferguson got into 30-points club by scoring 39 points in the last round. He went also for five assists. He was a key player of Titanes, leading his team to a 96-94 win against Marineros (3-4). The chances of Titanes ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 4 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Ferguson could help Titanes to bring them higher in the standings. Ferguson has a very solid season. In 2 games in Dominican Republic he scored 29.5ppg.
